We all know that connector products need to go through an inspection process after production and assembly, not only to check the functionality of the products but also to be responsible for customers and ourselves. So what details should be paid attention to in power connector testing? Let’s take a look together!

What details should be taken into account when testing power connectors-1

​Power connectors generally consist of plugs and sockets, with plugs also known as free-end connectors and sockets as fixed connectors. The connection and disconnection of circuits are achieved through plugging, socketing, and mating and separation.

During power connector testing, it is mainly divided into the following steps:

1: When testing cables or electronic devices, probes should meet the requirements. It is strictly forbidden to use test pens or copper wires directly for detection to prevent enlarging the plug holes of power connectors or damaging the inner walls, or causing the pins to bend.

2: Before testing the connection of power connectors on cables and electronic devices, the power connectors (plugs and sockets) on the test cable should be checked first. Any external damage, rusting or distortion of pins (holes), deformation of sockets, dust contamination, wire breakage, or broken shielding should not be plugged in.

3: The plugging and unplugging operations of power connectors during the testing process should generally be performed after disconnecting the power for no less than 3 minutes. Hot plugging is prohibited.

4: After the model and product electrical performance tests are completed, if the power connectors are not to be disconnected for a long time, they should be secured according to the requirements of design and process documents. When securing, the locking device of the power connector must not be loosened.

After going through these inspection steps, the products without any issues will be packaged and entered into the warehouse for shipment to buyers. The products with problems will be returned to the production line for rework until they meet the factory’s qualified standards before being dispatched.
